Representing Japan in competitions, Naomi's powerful serve strikes fear in competitors around the world. Her offense heavy play style is complemented by her big forehand and strong backhand. She's come to be known as an aggressive, offensive baseliner with some of her fastest serves clocked in at 125mph. 

After making her debut at the 2014 Bank of the West Classic, Naomi snagged a comeback win defeating the former 2011 US Open champion Samantha Stosur to gain her confidence on the World's stage. 2015 was a stellar breakout year for her in which she won at the Rising Stars Invitational and won earned her first top 50 ranking. in 2018, she made her first big tournament statement by reaching the final 16 at the Australian Open. Then in March of the same year, she won her first tour title at the BNP Paribas Open, defeating Maria Sharapova and World No. 1 Simona Halep, along the way. 

Wtih her historic win over Serena Williams in the 2018 US Open, Naomi became the first player of Japanese descent to win a Women's singles Grand Slam title.
