Totsuka Takes Gold in Snowboarding Halfpipe Finals at Burton US Open 2020

On March 1, 2020, Yuto Totsuka participated in the world renown snowboarding competition, Burton US Open for his career second appearance. The US Open is an admired global competition that sits alongside The X Games, where the best snowboarders convene for a high-level heated exchange with the toughest tricks to date.

 

Yuto emerged from the group in the finals with a high 97-point score on his second run, placing him in the winner’s seat. His run consisted of a switch backside 1080, a switch frontside 1260, and a frontside 1440, displaying complex technique and execution.

 

The champion’s board of choice is the Japan-made full carbon graphite snowboard, REV®. The REV® is built in Yonex’s Niigata factory with a new honeycomb construct called STOMP-TECH 3.0 which enables lighter swing weight allowing for quicker spins. Combined with the latest carbon graphite material, NANOMETRIC DR, the board is designed to create more propulsion, providing the rider with longer air time and more height.
